GCSE Results 2019
Walton High School students are celebrating today following the publication of a superb set of GCSE results.
Headteacher Neil Finlay commented: “We are delighted with this year’s results which have seen a very strong performance, particularly at the highest grades of 7, 8 and 9. This is especially pleasing in a national context where GCSE exams are becoming more challenging. This is the first year where every subject has moved over to the new 9-1 grading system and we are proud to have continued Walton High School’s strong tradition of outstanding academic performance. This is down to the hard work of an extremely committed year group who have been ably supported by their teachers and their parents. I look forward to further success as they progress into our Sixth Form with its bespoke accommodation and facilities.”
There were several outstanding individual performances, led by Jessica Downe who sat 11 exams and achieved a perfect set of 10 grade 9s and 1 A**! It is estimated that only a tiny handful of students in the entire country will have reached this standard. Hot on her heels were: Eleanor Pinkney with 8 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s; Amber Sedgley with 7 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and 1 A*; Jason Jiang with 6 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7, I grade 5 and 1 A** and Supreena Banerjee with 5 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, 1 grade 7, 1 grade 6 and 1 A*.
