Dress a Girl around the World
The dresses will soon be sent off to the charity Dress a Girl Around the World, who will then send the dresses on to third World countries so that their new owners have a smart new dress which gives them some protection from mistreatment and abuse in their communities as better dressed girls are considered to be part of a family group that takes care of them.
During the construction, they’ve learnt about using garment templates to cut fabric, extended their machining and overlocking skills and learnt how to do more difficult techniques such as putting in a zip and making straps from bias binding. They also had help from Miss Rebecca Stone, our Associate Teacher, training to teach Design and Technology at Birmingham City University. We’re very pleased with their final products.
